An Omegle alternative for private video chat
Omegle closed in 2023. If you liked how fast it was to start a video chat in the browser, videocalling gives you that same instant start: no account, no download, and a private room for the people you choose.
- No registration
- No download
- Free rooms up to 60 min
What happened
Omegle is gone. What now?
Omegle shut down in November 2023, and its address no longer offers video chat. Sites that copy its name or look are not the original, so treat them with care.
What people usually miss is the speed: open a page, click a button and you are on camera. That part is easy to keep. What we changed is who you end up talking to. Instead of being paired with a stranger, you create a room and send the link to friends, classmates, clients or family.
videocalling runs entirely in your browser on desktop, tablet and mobile. Nothing to install, nothing to register.

We do not offer random stranger matching. That is deliberate: every call is a private room you create and share yourself.
Is videocalling the right fit?
A good fit if you want to
- Video chat with friends or family without anyone creating an account
- Run a quick interview, tutoring session or stand-up from a link
- Share your screen with a colleague without installing software
- Keep conversations limited to people you invited
Not what you are looking for if you want to
- Be matched with random people you do not know
- Host a very large event (free rooms are capped at 4 people)
- Record meetings (recording is not part of the free plan)
How it works
Start a video chat in three steps
- 1
Create a room
Click Start Video Call Free. A private room is created in a second.
- 2
Share the link
Send the room link to the people you want to talk to, by message, email or chat.
- 3
Start talking
They open the link in any modern browser, pick a display name and join. No app, no account.
What you get
Everything the free plan includes
No registration
Pick a display name and go. We do not ask for an email address to start a call.
Runs in the browser
Works in current Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Nothing to download or update.
HD video and clear audio
Built on WebRTC for low-latency calls that adapt to your connection.
Screen sharing
Show slides, documents or a browser tab to everyone in the room.
Works on phones
Join from iOS or Android in the browser, the same link as on desktop.
Short-lived rooms
Room links expire. Free rooms last up to 60 minutes with up to 4 participants.
Staying safe
Video chat safely, whatever service you use
Private rooms reduce the risk but do not remove it. A few habits help.
Share the link only with people you trust
Anyone who has the room link can join, so treat it like a key.
Keep personal details to yourself
Avoid sharing your address, school, workplace or financial information on a call.
Leave whenever you want
Close the tab to leave. Rooms also expire on their own.
Know what is protected
Call media is encrypted in transit via WebRTC and relayed through Cloudflare Realtime. This is not end-to-end encryption, and audio and video are not recorded by default.
FAQ
Omegle alternative questions
Is Omegle still available?
No. Omegle shut down in November 2023. Be cautious with sites that use its name or imitate it.
What is a good Omegle alternative with no registration?
If you want the same instant, no-account start but with people you choose rather than random strangers, videocalling works: click Start Video Call Free, then share the link.
Does videocalling connect me with random strangers?
No. There is no matching and no public lobby. Each call is a private room that only people with the link can join.
Do I need to download an app or create an account?
No. Open the site in a modern browser, create a room and share the link. Participants only enter a display name.
Is it free?
Yes. Free rooms last up to 60 minutes and support up to 4 participants. We are working on a Pro plan for longer and larger meetings.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in the mobile browser on iOS and Android, using the same room link as on desktop.
Is the call end-to-end encrypted?
No. Media is encrypted in transit with WebRTC and relayed through Cloudflare Realtime SFU, but this is not end-to-end encryption. Audio and video are not recorded by default.
Can I use it for work or school instead of Zoom or Google Meet?
For quick calls with no account and no download, yes. For large meetings, recording or longer sessions, a dedicated meeting tool or our upcoming Pro plan is a better fit.
